Hi-Lo Jack is a collaboration between three friends from different musical worlds. With their first release, Old New Clothes, Clyde Lawrence (of soul-pop band Lawrence), Cody Fitzgerald (of indie-rock band Stolen Jars), and Dolapo Akinkugbe (aka rapper/producer DAP The Contract) come together to create a project that merges their distinct sounds. With wide-ranging influences from Outkast to Randy Newman, Bon Iver to Stevie Wonder, and Dirty Projectors to Chance The Rapper, the EP challenges genre labels while remaining cohesive in a space all its own.

Old New Clothes is a collection of songs about endings and the new beginnings that stem from them. Initially written during the last year of the trio’s time together at Brown University, the EP finds its meaning in things that are left behind: college, friends, significant others, and the homes that came before. At the same time the EP is a celebration of a newfound collaboration and independence. Sonically, the project is unlike anything that its members have made individually. But, at any given moment you can hear each collaborator's clear fingerprint on the sound: Clyde’s keyboard-driven soulful chord changes and catchy melodies, Cody’s hocketing guitar lines and warm intricate textures, and Dolapo’s energetic and dynamic verses are woven together into a complex-yet-accessible tapestry.

Clyde Lawrence is the co-leader of soul-pop band Lawrence with his sister Gracie. The keyboard-driven eight-piece group from New York released their debut album Breakfast in 2016 and saw it reach #6 on the iTunes R&B/Soul charts. They have toured extensively, appearing at festivals like Bonnaroo, Firefly, and Outside Lands and opening for notable acts such as Lake Street Dive, Vulfpeck, Soulive, Jon Bellion, and many others. They recently signed with Warner Bros. Records and they are in production on their upcoming second album.

Cody Fitzgerald is the driving force behind the indie project Stolen Jars. The band’s intricate guitar work, deft chamber orchestration, and sorrowfully penned lyrics have been featured in outlets like NPR, Paste Magazine, and Stereogum, and even a worldwide Apple iPad ad. They recently released their third effort, a visual EP called glint, and are currently working on their next album.

In addition to their bands, Clyde Lawrence and Cody Fitzgerald regularly collaborate as film composers. The duo have worked on a number of film scores, including the Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei feature The Rewrite, indie feature Hard Sell, recent Sundance pick Landline, and the Cannes-featured short Open 24 Hours.

DAP The Contract is a classically trained pianist and producer/rapper from Lagos, Nigeria. Inspired by Kanye West and Andre 3000, he released GoodBye for Never in 2014, and has received praise from Complex, FADER, The Source, and Earmilk, among many others. Shortly afterwards, he was selected by Converse to work with Grammy-winning producer Mark Ronson at Abbey Road Studios. DAP released the Two Roads EP April 28th, and is currently releasing music weekly as part of the 2nd installment of his ”Contract Thursday's" series, and working on a visual album while attending Columbia Law School.
